Data loss can occur due to various reasons but the most two common factors are – first one; software related and easy to solve: you accidentally delete a file, emptied the Recycle Bin or formatted a wrong drive. Second one; hard disk failure. With the complexity of the modern hard drives, there’s no wonder if something goes wrong down the lane. When a hard drive suffers from some sort of failure, there’s little you can do to get the data back by yourself.

Two Choices to Recover Data

First Option– Backups, if you have made them before hard drive failure, you can restore them anytime. But if you don’t have one, then you should opt for the second option.

Second Option – Remo Repair Hard Drive Data Recovery software. It will securely retrieve the data from a failed, damaged, corrupted or formatted hard drives.

Caution!

For any hard drive related data loss situation, DO NOT download the recovery software on the same hard drive. Doing so will overwrite the data making it difficult to retrieve the entire hard drive content.

Before we go to data recovery procedure, we’ll see how to connect the hard drive to another computer.

Things you need: A power cable, USB (2.0 or 3.0) or FireWire drives, IDE or SATA external connectors (Based on your hard drive).

Follow the below mentioned instructions to physically connect the drive to another computer.

  • Based on your hard drive, connect the external SATA or IDE connector to the hard drive in question (now used as an external hard drive).
  • Connect the power adapter to the wall outlet and plug the other end to the external hard drive. If the hard drive power switch is ‘ON’, turn it off.
  • Connect FireWire or USB cable directly to the computer. Now, connect the other end to the external hard disk. If the light glows, the drive is connected properly.
  • Your computer should now detect the external HDD.

Note: DO NOT connect both FireWire or USB together to your computer.

  • Do not delete photos from the camera. Always save them on your computer and from there, delete the unwanted photos.
  • Be careful when you select multiple images to delete at once. Cross check before you press the delete option on your camera, to save yourself from deleting important RAW images.

Knowledge Base: What is a RAW File Format.

The RAW file format is an unprocessed/uncompressed file which can’t be either edited nor printed without the help of graphic editors. The camera takes the RAW images and converts in into TIFF or other formats with help of camera settings. You cannot use RAW files as an image, it has to be converted to get a finished photograph. Most of the cameras use JPEG as a default photo file format to save the images. Unless you are professional photographer where the quality of the image is the most important thing then you’ll go for the camera where it lets you save the images in RAW format.

The major difference between a RAW, TIFF and JPEG format is the file size. RAW, TIFF (uncompressed) are large sized images and takes a huge space and time to save to the camera memory card. Whereas JPEG (compressed) occupy less storage space.
