It is a well-known fact that Outlook can do more than just send or receive emails. It is referred to as a personal information manager; meaning it can be used to manage your multiple email accounts, contacts, calendars, appointments all in one place.<\/p>\n

In addition to all of this, Outlook also allows you to access emails, calendar, appointments and other info even when you\u2019re offline. This is made possible through a file called OST (or PST) that stores all Outlook data on your local computer.<\/p>\n

Occasionally you may encounter issues when using Offline Mode. And today in this article, we discuss an error that reads \u2018Cannot open Outlook in offline mode\u2019 and some solutions to resolve the same.<\/p>\n

Solution 1: Generate a new OST file<\/strong><\/p>\n

Normally, this error is seen when your OST file is corrupt. Corruption can happen due to various reasons such as network issues during OST synchronization process, bad sectors on the drive where the file is stored etc.<\/p>\n

Thankfully, it is possible to download a new OST file to replace the corrupt one. To do so, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Launch Outlook <\/strong>and click on File <\/strong>> Info<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Select Account Settings<\/strong> > Account Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. In the Email<\/strong> tab, select Microsoft Exchange<\/strong> > Settings<\/strong> > More Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n
  4. In the Advanced tab <\/strong>under More Settings, select Offline Folder File Settings<\/strong><\/li>\n
  5. Browse a location to save<\/strong> your OST file and click Ok<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Now that a new OST file is created, go ahead and delete the old one. To delete the old OST file, follow the steps below.<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. Press the Windows + R<\/strong> keys to open Run<\/strong> dialogue<\/li>\n
    2. Type \u2018%LOCALAPPDATA%\\Microsoft\\Outlook\\<\/strong>\u2019 and hit Enter<\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Now identify the old OST file and click on Delete <\/strong>to delete the old OST file<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      Solution 2: Use Remo OST to PST converter<\/strong><\/p>\n

      If you don\u2019t want to go through the manual hassle of creating a new OST and deleting the old one, you can make use of an automated tool such as Remo\u2019s OST to PST converter. The software takes your corrupt OST file, identifies and corrects issues and converts it to a healthy PST.<\/p>\n

      Once it has been converted to a PST, all your emails, calendars, contacts, appointments etc. can be recovered easily. The advantage of using the software is that it keeps the OST folder structure and data in the same format as it was originally.<\/p>\n

      What\u2019s more is that the software can automatically find and repair the OST file. So you don\u2019t have to bother about finding the OST\u2019s location which can be pretty challenging.<\/p>\n

      Once you download and install the Remo OST to PST converter<\/a>, launch the software. Then allow the software to find the OST file. (Of course, you can also choose the file yourself if you know the location).<\/p>\n

      Then provide a destination folder to save the converted file and click on Next<\/strong> to start the conversion process. That\u2019s all you have a brand new PST with all Outlook attributes.
