Outlook is usually set to checking emails from the server every few minutes. But if you work in a time-sensitive job, then wouldn\u2019t it be nice to configure it based on your requirement, say every 2 or 3 minutes. And this blog post addresses this situation. It explains how you can configure Outlook to check emails from the server based on what you prefer. Of course, the steps are slightly different in each Outlook version, but you should have no difficulty as we cover Outlook 2007, 2010, 2013 and 2016 versions.<\/p>\n

In Outlook 2013 and 2016<\/h2>\n

We have combined both Outlook 2013 and 2016 because the steps for changing the Send\/Receive frequency in these versions are similar.<\/p>\n

1.<\/strong> Open Outlook and click on the Send\/Receive tab<\/strong> on the toolbar<\/p>\n

\"Change<\/p>\n

2.<\/strong> From the menu that opens, select Send\/Receive Groups<\/strong> > Define Send\/Receive Groups<\/strong><\/p>\n

3.<\/strong> Here, you can customize groups based on one email address, multiple email addresses or all email addresses in your Outlook. You can also adjust the settings to all the accounts, which is what we are going to do now in this article.<\/p>\n

4.<\/strong> So, under the section \u2018All Accounts\u2019<\/strong>, check the box corresponding to \u2018Schedule an automatic send\/receive every\u2019<\/strong> and select a number to set the number of minutes.<\/p>\n

In Outlook 2010<\/h2>\n

Let\u2019s see how to change send\/receive frequency in Outlook 2010.<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Open Outlook and click on the File<\/strong> menu<\/li>\n
  2. Then select Options<\/strong> to open the Options window. In the Options<\/strong> window, select Advanced<\/strong><\/li>\n
  3. Under the Send & Receive<\/strong> section, you will see a button called Send\/Receive<\/strong>, click on that button<\/li>\n
  4. In the Send\/Receive window, check the box corresponding to \u2018Schedule an automatic send\/receive every\u2019<\/strong>. Then choose an appropriate time, say for example every \u20185 minutes\u2019.<\/li>\n
  5. Then click Close<\/strong> to save changes<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    This is one way to go to Send\/Receive settings. However, you can also click on Send\/Receive<\/strong> tab and then click on Define Send\/Receive Groups<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

    By default, the Send\/Receive frequency in Outlook is set to 30 minutes. For instance, if you change this frequency to 5 or 10 minutes, Outlook will check for emails once in every 5 or 10 minutes respectively.<\/p>\n

    In Outlook 2007<\/h2>\n
      \n
    1. To change the Send\/Receive frequency in Outlook 2007, follow the steps below.<\/li>\n
    2. Open Outlook and select Tools<\/strong> > Options<\/strong><\/li>\n
    3. Click on the Mail Setup tab<\/strong> (second tab from left) and check the box corresponding to Send\/Receive<\/strong><\/li>\n
    4. Under the \u2018All Accounts\u2019<\/strong> section, check the box \u2018Schedule an automatic send\/receive every\u2019 <\/strong>and enter the desired minutes<\/li>\n
    5. Finally save changes and hit \u2018Close\u2019<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
