OST files consist copies of your Exchange Server data, whereas PST files consist of data stored in the personal folders.\u00a0MS Outlook cannot directly import data\/emails from OST files if you want to copy .ost files to another PC, you either have to create a new offline data file (.ost) by configuring the exchange client to the server or use convert OST to PST file. For former, you can either convert manually which can go wrong if not followed the instructions properly or use trustable third-party <a href=\"https:\/\/www.remorepair.com\/windows\/ost-to-pst-converter.html\">OST to PST Converter<\/a> tools which do the job seamlessly. Now, let\u2019s see how to create a new offline Outlook data file.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Re-Creating Outlook OST File<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Close Outlook application.<\/li>\n<li>Go to Control Panel and double click on <strong>Mail<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>The location of Mail varies depending on the versions of the Windows operating system. The easiest method to locate the Mail is to search in the Control Panel. Open Control Panel, in the search box, type Mail.<\/li>\n<li>The <strong>Mail Setup<\/strong> window will open with the current profile name, choose the profile name and click on <strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Now, click on <strong>Email Accounts<\/strong> tab, choose the Exchange account and then click on <strong>Change<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Uncheck the box beside \u201c<strong>Use Cached Exchange Mode\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Next, click on <strong>\u201cMore Settings\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Click <strong>Advance<\/strong> tab, and then click on \u201c<strong>Offline Folder File Settings\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Now, click on<strong> \u201cDisable Offline Use\u201d<\/strong>, a dialog box appears, in that click <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Once again click on \u201c<strong>Offline Folder File Settings\u201d.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Press <strong>OK<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>A dialog box appears, press <strong>Yes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>In the <strong>Cached Exchange Mode Settings<\/strong>, check-mark the box beside <strong>Use Cached Exchange Mode.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Now, click <strong>OK<\/strong>, and then <strong>Next<\/strong> and then click <strong>Finish<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Close \u201c<strong>Account Settings\u201d<\/strong> and\u00a0\u201c<strong>Mail Setup\u201d <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Now, restart your MS Outlook and the changes will be in effect. Though creating a new OST file is not tedious or cumbersome, due to some unexpected interruptions or unavoidable situations like power outrage while creating new .ost file or sudden shut down of the computer or Email Exchange Server crash may lead to corruption of the OST file, in a such case, to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.remorepair.com\/windows\/repair-corrupt-ost-file.html\">repair corrupt OST file<\/a> you have to use a software tool which can repair and recover your .ost files.<\/p>\n<p>The software repairs all Outlook items like emails, calendar, contacts, journal etc. by default.
