Yes, with iMovie you can easily create movies on MacBook Pro.

In iMovie, all the required controls are logically placed, and also easy to use. So to launch iMovie, click the iMovie icon in the Dock, or run Launchpad and click iMovie icon. Now follow the steps listed below to make a movie with iMovie on MacBook Pro:

Step 2: iMovie will display a sheet. Type a name for the project.

Step 3: Select the screen dimension (aspect ratio) for the movie

Choose from the options to select a standard display (4:3), widescreen display (16:9), or a display suited for iPhone (3:2). If you are particular about compatibility with Standard Definition TV, then choose the standard ratio (4:3).

Step 4: Next, choose the frame rate

30 frames per second is the default frame rate. But then you can choose a slower frame rate too if required, like 25 fps.

If you want to manually add titles and transitions, then click Automatically Add Transitions and Titles check box to deselect it.

If you don’t want to use a theme, iMovie can still add an effect between clips. You can select Automatically Add check box, click on the pop-up menu in order to choose the desired effect. In iMovie, you can also create movie trailers.

Step 6: Finally, click Create, and you are on your way
